Thinking about going for a promotion, but not sure you’re ready?

Most people don’t feel 100% ready when they step into their next role. It’s easy to tell ourselves we need more experience, another qualification or more confidence first — but sometimes that’s self-doubt talking rather than reality.

In this short video, I share a different question to ask yourself: Instead of “Am I ready?” try “Am I capable of learning what the next role requires?”

Growth doesn’t always happen before the promotion. Quite often, it happens because of it.

But promotion isn’t automatically the right next step either. Ask yourself whether you genuinely want the role, the responsibility and the impact, or whether you simply feel you should want it.

The best career decisions come from alignment, not pressure. So perhaps the real question isn’t just:

Can I do it?

It’s: Do I actually want it?
